A short, hands-on, playful introduction to stop motion animation, using 3d objects and simple puppets.

 

We’ll start with practical exercises introducing the key principles of stop-motion, using simple objects, phone cameras and straightforward free software.

 

After that we’ll explore some more advanced techniques, we’ll look at planning and storyboarding for stop motion, editing and polishing, and ways of integrating stop-motion into other film-making projects.

 

We’ll finish with a brief introduction to industry-standard Dragonframe software and play with some professional stop motion puppet armature.

 

You will get a solid introduction to the form and some insight into the possibilities. There will also be time to discuss your own projects and ideas and get some advice on these.
